Founded in 2009 and launched in May of 2010, DeliverGood is a web platform built to streamline and maximize the charitable giving process. DeliverGood matches charities and non-profit organizations who need goods, time and funding with individuals and businesses who can provide those specific goods, time and funding.
"Simply put, charities need stuff, people (and companies) have stuff, the question - how do they find each other? The answer - DeliverGood.org," says Founder, Robb Price.
In 2008, Founder, Robb Price, was working with a Calgary-based non-profit organization, THE DOORWAY, when they experienced a fire at their location. Due to the destruction from the fire they had to replace a good portion of what they had in their office. The question was quickly raised: "How do we tell our community and our donors what we need?" In addition, during the three months THE DOORWAY was closed, they received several calls from individuals and small business who wanted to help by purchasing something for them and not just writing a cheque.
The general sentiment was people tended to feel better when they know that they have solved a specific problem.
This situation sparked another thought for Robb, "If I have something to donate (i.e. a computer monitor), how do I find an organization who needs what I have?".
Robb set out on a mission to find a tool that would solve this problem and after a lot of research, realized an efficient tool did not exist. As a result of his findings, Robb began the planning and development of DeliverGood in early 2009.
2010 marks the launch of the Social Giving Network, DeliverGood.org.
